Welcome to the 2008 Winter Tournament Series (WTS)! 

Non-members (both 9- and 18-hole divisions) may play, but first preference is given to those who have been members in 2007.

Fees for the WTS events: 

• 9 hole division: $20 members/ $30 non-members
• 18 hole division: $30 members/ $45 non-members

The Winter Tournament Series has been named to honor the memory of Glenn McClain, who was a local golf enthusiast and junior golf advocate. A native Hoosier, Glenn took to golf at a young age when he realized he might not be tall enough or strong enough to excel in his state sport – basketball! Golf became a passion. As a youngster, he worked and played at a nearby municipal golf course. Then Glenn entered Manatee Community College in 1975 on a golf scholarship, returned to Indiana after graduation and eventually he and his wife, Patty, returned to the Greater Sarasota area. He was always mindful of the assistance and guidance he received while he was a junior pursuing his love of golf, and his family and friends felt that helping to provide golf opportunities to today’s juniors would be a true way to remember him.

We will be conducting one 18-Hole Tournament a month from January - May. These tournaments are open to GSJGA members first, and to non-members on an as-available basis.* 

GSJGA members who played in the 18-Hole Division during the summer of 2007, who can shoot better than 100 on a regulation course, and who will not have reached their 19th birthday by the tournament date will be eligible to play in the 18-Hole Series. GSJGA members who played in the 9-Hole Division during the summer of 2007, who can shoot better than 55 on a regulation course, will be eligible to play in the 9-Hole Series. 

Non-members will need verification of their playing ability to participate. (see entry form). 
Non-members will be eligible to send in their entry forms one week after the postmark date for GSJGA members.

Please be sure you fall into the guidelines for each tournament, since eligibility requirements may vary from one to the other. Please note the postmark date listed on each entry. Early postmarked or incomplete entries will be returned. Also, please note that many of the courses are private. Proper dress is required by the course and/or by GSJGA (No jeans, cut-offs or t-shirts will be allowed at any of the events. Short-shorts are not permitted and collared shirts are required. We also ask juniors to tuck their shirts in. Thank you for respecting our request on behalf of the hosting sites.)
